A travelorant

I do realize that it's been more than a month and that it irresponsible was make a promise to blog at least every other day. What can I say? I'm not really one to keep promises, am I?

I am back at home, safe, sound, and dying of the sweltering heat. School starts next Monday and I (surprisingly) cannot WAIT to get back. I came back a week ago, but Questa left the next day, presumably to visit her relatives, but I think it was so she wouldn't have to deal with me. (This is where I insert jk jk, where the second "jk" negates the first.) Then Pearlene left, and now I have absolutely NOTHING to do all day long because my parents have work and can't be bothered to take me places, and we have guests over.

While I was in America, I realized that I was (a) not that excited to be there and (b) actually missed home. I did, however, enjoy stuffing my face with strawberries and whipped cream, not because I can't get them here, but because my mother think whipped cream is "unhealthy" and subsequently never buys any.

And then there was the whole aspect of I TOLD MYSELF I'D READ 50 BOOKS BUT I CAN'T READ BECAUSE I SEEM TO HAVE GOTTEN A CASE OF READER'S BLOCK IF THAT
EVEN EXISTS!

So I ended up reading perhaps 10 books in total and now I am ashamed.

Then we went to London. It was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. I got to see Covent Garden and go on the WB Studio Tour (which, if you didn't know, is a tour of the studio(s) where the Harry Potter films were, well, filmed) and walk on Baker Street and Bond street and see the changing of the guards (which was a bit of a let down just because I couldn't see over people's heads) and so, so much more. Unfortunately, we didn't get time to go to Madame Tussaud's, because apparently they close at 5:30. The most brilliant part was that IT DIDN'T RAIN except for a couple of hours on the last day that we were there. This is London we're talking about! It was clean (because of the Olympics) and amazing (because it's British). WE SAW THE LION KING MUSICAL! IT WAS BRILLIANT! The metro system was my favorite part and I really, seriously would consider moving there just so I could take the metro every. single. day.

And then we took the Channel Express to Paris and the TGV to Marseille and I can't say much, because Marseille really isn't as brilliant as everyone thinks it is. BUT the sea was beautiful, and incredibly blue. I always thought it was jsut computer effects on those postcards. We went back to Paris after a day there, not because we didn't like it, but because we had tickets for the TGV back to Paris.

Paris was pretty, and nice, and fun, but not as awesome as London because it was smoky and not very clean. Also, it we climbed up the Eiffel Tower. That's right. CLIMBED. Mostly because the line to take the elevator was too long, but also because of the sheer thrill. Granted, we only climbed halfway up, but still.

This is a long post. For me, anyway. Maybe I should do this more often. I hate to admit it, but it was fun.
